The ROUVY Challenge: Get Virtual and Win Peter Sagan-Signed Green Jersey and More

By Frantiska Blazkova

There’s no reason to take it slow after New Year’s Eve so starting January 2020, We Love Cycling will team up with ROUVY, the #1 realistic simulation cycling platform, to bring you a unique challenge. So, what’s the deal with virtual training and what’s in it for you?

It turns out that virtual cycling is the best for those rainy, grimy mornings when you really feel like getting on with that 5:30 AM training but the weather is not to your tastes. Or when you want to hit the pedals before going to work but your favourite spot is 45 minutes away and you don’t have a moment to spare. Or you just want to kick the routine. And that’s where ROUVY enters the game. We’ve featured it on our list of top Zwift alternatives earlier in November and its sophistication caught our attention. The most advanced virtual cycling platform to date uses animated 3D riders on high-quality 2D videos and video-smoothing – all this results in an interactive and life-like experience that’s easy to get hooked on.

Regarding the locations, now comes the best part. In collaboration with ROUVY, we’ve selected and prepared four special and scenic virtual routes featuring, for example, the famous Mont Ventoux climb or a section of the already revealed l’Étape 2020 route. Here’s your part of the challenge – if you manage to complete all four routes with ROUVY within January and the first half of February, you’ll automatically enter the draw for amazing We Love Cycling prizes, including a green jersey signed by Peter Sagan and top-quality helmets, t-shirts, jersey or hoodies. We’ll brief you with more information on how to enter and detailed descriptions of the routes soon.

If this challenge encourages you to get signed up for ROUVY, we guarantee it will become your favourite active pastime for the days when taking the bike out is just not an option. Regarding the training options, ROUVY offers personal time trials or group rides with friends, interactive video guides, 4,000 workouts programmes and a custom workout and route builder, online races and much more. If you think that you could be limited by the virtual world and that the options will soon run out, think again. Put into numbers, ROUVY programmes contain 70 iconic places and racecourses, 3,000 route films, 7,000 km of certified routes and the possibility to customize all of the above.

To get connected to the ROUVY app, you’ll need an indoor trainer that attaches to your bike in place of the rear wheel. So, if you were thinking about suggesting to a certain special someone what would you like to find under the tree this year, consider the bike trainer to be an extremely useful hint. Or just treat yourself, no shame in that! So, do you feel up to the 2020 virtual challenge?
