Top 5 Worst Cycle Lanes in Slovakia

By WeLoveCycling

Not long ago, we staked out a bold new goal for We Love Cycling magazine: to collect as many of the worst cycle lanes across the globe as we could and gather them in the biggest gallery of its kind. And thus, the Worst Cycle Lane in the World Gallery was born! It’s been driven purely by user submissions. Here’s our selection of the ‘best’ entries from Slovakia!

Many changes were brought about since the end of 2019 for obvious reasons but some of them were actually a force for good as more people have chosen bikes as their commuting option. At the start of 2020, the cycling citizens of Slovakia were happy to hear that a 21-kilometre stretch of a frequented and scenic 100-km-long cycle path was scheduled for a major upgrade. The Slovak Prime Minister has also recently announced that 105.1 million euros are going to be put forward to construct and renovate cycling infrastructure across the country, including the creation of around 5,000 bicycle parking spaces mainly next to train stations. Let’s hope the best submissions in the gallery below will disappear over the years.
