Boasson Hagen Leads the Critérium du Dauphiné and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it. So, what did you miss?

First stage of the Critérium

The breakaway almost made it, but in the end, it was swallowed by the peloton with 700 m to go. Then it was time for the sprinters to show their skills and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) rode past Philippe Gilbert and Wout Van Aert towards victory.

The Critérium is usually used by the Tour favourites to warm up and to see who’s in better form. And there are some truly big names this year. Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Richie Porte, Nairo Quintana, Tom Dumoulin, Adam Yates, Romain Bardet, Thibaut Pinot. It almost looks like the real line-up on the start of the Tour de France.

Who do you think will win it this year?
