One-Armed BMX Rider Refuses to Give Up His Beloved Sport

By Monica Buck

Everybody expects the 19-year-old Jack Dumper to have some wild story about losing the lower part of his left arm, but the truth is he was born without it. And to his credit, he didn’t let this condition affect his life at all. When Jack fell in love with BMX about 4 years ago, he didn’t hesitate and jumped right in.

Jack Dumper has learned how to perform a series of jaw-dropping stunts.

The young Brit simply ties his left hoodie sleeve to the handlebar for stability and pulls off the same tricks as his friends. Damper’s ultimate dream is to become a pro BMXer, although he’s aware of the fact that it might never happen. He doesn’t despair though and is trying his hardest, eager to find out what the future holds for him.

“Anything is possible, and you don’t need two arms to ride a BMX. BMX is for everyone,” Damper told Huffington Post and added an inspirational message for anyone with disabilities who hesitates to take up an active lifestyle.

“Don’t let anything stop you or anyone tell you that you can’t do it, because you can do anything that you set your mind to. You just need to find a way of doing it that works for you, as the only thing in your way is yourself.”
