Once Jiří Ježek sets his mind on something it’s virtually impossible to dissuade him from it. Not only he rode the whole course of L’Étape with us but he just got hold of the 9th place in cycling at Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and in fact, he is the Czech Republic’s most successful Paralympian in individual events. He posted a photo with a heartfelt caption on his Facebook page right after the race and you can read the translated version below.
“It’s done…I’ve been sitting on the bed for the past hour, still with the number on my back, and I don’t even have the strength to go take a shower… I’ve left my everything there… I’m happy about how I rode, I have a feeling that it was my best time trial after return, but it was only enough for the 9th place… I’m not disappointed, it just couldn’t be done better… It was tight – 45s from the 4th place. I fought because I knew how many people is rooting for me!! That’s the most wonderful feeling!!! Thank you all for it!!!“
