Conquer Siberia: World’s Coldest Bike Race

By Martin Mrazek

The cycling event was held in Yakutsk and the temperature dropped to mind-blowing minus 43 degrees Celsius. Due to the extreme weather, most of the bikes were absolutely frozen and only 14 of them made it to the starting line.

‘You need to dress up so that you don’t freeze, because it’s easy to turn into a piece of ice in such cold. Quite a lot of time has passed since summer bicycle season finished, so I recommend to keep cycling and to train for such races,’ says the winner Andrey Popov after completing the 10 kilometres long race in 30 minutes and 44 seconds.
