Mads Pedersen Wins Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here, and so is our news from the world of cycling. So, what did you miss?

Pedersen takes it

The former world champion adds another Belgian Classic win to his list. The race was almost dominated by Mathieu van der Poel, who appeared on the starting line only because Alpecin-Fenix had to leave the UAE Tour due to a Coronavirus infection among his team. The Dutch phenomenon found himself ahead of the peloton even though he said he was only in the race to work for Tim Merlier. But his move was caught before the finish and it was Mads Pedersen who won it by making use of a lead-out from Jasper Stuyven and powering ahead of all his rivals. Anthony Turgis (Total Direct Energie) was second and Tom Pidcock claimed third.
