Van der Poel Wins Third European Cyclocross Championship in a Row and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it! So, what did you miss?

The Dutchman beats Eli Iserbyt

Mathieu van der Poel held off every single attack by his rivals until there was no one in the front but Eli Iserbyt and himself. The 24-year-old Dutchman then launched an attack of his own in the final lap of the race and beat the younger Belgian.

“It was a difficult course to make a difference,” Van der Poel admitted. „I have some very big goals in 2020 and now I’m a little bit focused and excited for the races on the road and then the Olympics.”

Van der Poel now holds the European title as well as the World and the Dutch national title. The sky seems to be the limit for this young man.

Thanks for clearing that out
