Another truly unique experience is offered by L’Eroica. Organized since 1997 and surrounded by gorgeous scenery, it’s a race on ancient roads using obsolete bikes. After exporting L’Eroica experience to Japan and Great Britain, the list of Eroica events in the World enlarged up to eight stops. The most famous is the original L’Eroica in Italy. As a period cycle race – only bikes made prior to 1987 can enter – riders also dress in appropriate costumes like merino wool jerseys, leather shoes or small peak caps, and most of the course is made up of the bone-shaking “strada bianche”, Italy’s crushed gravel tracks. This year it’s from 28th September to 2nd October.
