Tomas Kypena and Andre Markwirth are two of three lucky winners of the WeLoveCycling.com Tour Flyover Contest. “I’m a big cycling fan. I love cycling because it’s a sport for everyone. It’s only up to you to decide if you want to work hard and ride many kilometers every day or if you prefer riding at a slow pace and enjoying the countryside,” says Tomas.

Even though both Tomas and Andre took part in the contest right from the beginning, they were surprised by the fact that they had won. “About half of my answers were pure guesses. I guess I was just lucky,” smiles Tomas.
Tomas loves the Formula 1 races a lot too and visits them regularly. “Being at the Tour was completely different! I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere and I have to thank all of the SKODA team members who were taking care of us and did everything to make us feel comfortable.”

How did their Tour days look? Firstly, all the winners met in a hotel and enjoyed dinner together. In the wee hours of the next day, a big surprise was awaiting them. “We went for a bicycle ride with Stephen Roche, the 1987 Tour de France winner! We were riding together through the most beautiful landscapes, talking about cycling and enjoying every kilometer,” recall both Andre and Tomas.

The weather unfortunately turned bad so the helicopters were banned from flying and the contest winners had to do without the flyover. “Nonetheless, we were riding in a special car in front of the peloton and later we met several riders who gave us their autographs. We had a lovely barbecue party and at the end of the stage, we were standing only about ten meters from the finish line. I have never experienced anything like this,” recalls Tomas. “The atmosphere was beyond description,” agrees Andre.
