To win The Tour is the path to immortality, but to win the 100th Tour de France, “is an honour beyond any I’ve dreamed,” said Chris Froome. Do you remember how amazing the 2013 Tour de France was? Let’s remind ourselves of that great cycling celebration.

1) The 100th Tour came to a climax in the evening when the sumptuous final of the Grande Boucle allowed the riders to make a complete tour of an illuminated Arc de Triomphe for the first time ever.

2) All generations of fans wait for the riders on the roadside for long hours by making their own way and planning their trip according to their budget and means of transport.

8) This time trial world champion has few peers in this discipline. Tony Martin pushed a 58×11 gear on the flat, fast course from Avranches to the stunning stage finish at Le Mont-Saint-Michel. No rider had been able to surpass Martin’s times at any check until the arrival of Chris Froome.

9) For the second time in four days, Rui Costa had won a stage of the Tour de France by attacking the final climb, opening a good gap on his rivals and holding them all off with a speedy descent.

10) Christopher Froome, Kenyan-born British cyclist and winner of the 2013 Tour de France, riding for the UCI ProTeam Team Sky won the general classification on July 21st with a final time of 83 hours, 56 minutes and 40 seconds (four minutes and 20 seconds ahead of second-placed Quintana).
