The 156km race unfolded on a classic San Remo script—tension mounting through the coastal climbs, culminating in the dramatic Poggio descent and a nail-biting dash to the line. With 250 metres to go, all eyes were on Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ), who had launched a daring solo attack off the Poggio, carving out what looked like a race-winning lead. But Wiebes’ teammate, world champion Lotte Kopecky, had other plans.
After being distanced on the final climb, Kopecky stormed back, rejoining the lead group and driving the chase in a selfless show of strength and strategy. Her work proved decisive, catching Longo Borghini just before the finish.
Vos was first to launch her sprint, hugging the left-hand barrier, but Wiebes, poised and patient, accelerated on the opposite side, powering past her compatriot to take one of the most prestigious wins of her career. “I’m super grateful for what Lotte did in the final,” said Wiebes post-race. “I knew how strong she is, and she put me in the perfect position.”

Behind the Dutch duo, Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly) surged to an impressive third, ahead of a packed elite group that included Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Demi Vollering, and Chloe Dygert.
The race had been animated from the start by a determined solo break from Anne Knijnenburg (VolkerWessels Women’s Pro Cycling Team), who spent over 70km off the front. Chasers Laura Tomasi and Virginia Bortoli attempted to join her, but the peloton—nervous and aggressive—kept a tight leash.
The pace intensified as the race approached the trio of coastal capi. A crash on the approach to the Cipressa eliminated several contenders, but the main favourites remained in control. SD Worx was particularly prominent, with Erica Magnaldi setting tempo for Longo Borghini and Blanka Vas later guiding the team into position for the Poggio.
Attacks flew in the final kilometres, with Vollering, Juliette Labous, Kasia Niewiadoma, and Kim Le Court all testing their legs, but none could break the resolve of the sprint-focused group. The race came down to timing, teamwork, and nerves—three areas where Wiebes and SD Worx excelled.
