Dan Martin dropped 18 places in the GC due to the crash and finished 23rd overall. He should race the Tour of the Basque Country. Bardet suffered chest contusions and is expected to undergo a CT scan to assess the whole extent of his injuries.
Both of the pros had their kit stolen but that probably wasn’t the worst thing that happened to cycling during this year’s Volta a Catalunya.
