Izagirre Wins Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it. So, what did you miss?

Groenewegen takes the final stage

A crash in the last kilometre of the stage reduced the front group, but Izagirre as well as all sprinters were able to come out unscathed. The Astana pro then cruised to the finish line and easily defended his lead. In the last stretch, it seemed that Trentin would claim the stage win. In the end, however, he was unable to keep Kristoff and Groenewegen behind him. The Dutchman proved his great form and with a late push, he managed to claim the victory by a wheel’s length.
