Pro Cycling Chef Hannah Grant: ‘I had no idea what I was getting into!’

By We Love Cycling

Another instalment of the We Love Cycling Podcast hosted by Matt Stephens is here – and this time, he and his esteemed guest will take on pro cycling from an unusual angle.

As anyone with a somewhat keen interest in cycling and sports in general would agree, food (or more precisely, nutrition) can make or break an athlete and have a serious impact on their overall health, condition and race results.

To get closer acquainted with the topic within the world of pro cycling, Matt invited over his long-time friend, Hannah Grant, to shed some light on how things go down in the “kitchen” of a pro cycling team. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Hannah is an accomplished chef with experience ranging from modern Danish-French restaurants to prepping meals aboard a kiteboarding expedition boat sailing the South Pacific. She is also an entrepreneur and author of such bestsellers as Eat, Race, Win or The Grand Tour Cookbook.

Her newest exciting addition, The Cake Cookbook, focuses solely on cakes designed for cyclists and other athletes. She has been with the World Tour pro cycling team Tinkoff Saxo since 2011 and is working in parallel with Danish morning television as a TV chef as well as developing recipes for a number of sports publications.

With Matt, Hannah discussed her background in the Danish Royal Navy, how she took interest in efficient and performance-driven food preparation and recipes, the initial hurdles of blending in with the high-profile cycling environment and more.

Settle down comfortably and enjoy 30 minutes of inspirational and insightful banter.
