Cycling Advert Causes Peloton to Lose $1.5bn in Value and Other News from the World of Cycling

Peloton’s ad deemed sexist

The exercise bike company is in trouble after publishing a controversial advert. The video, which has been viewed seven million times in the last couple of weeks, shows a woman receiving an exercise bicycle from her partner. She proceeds to record a video diary and claims: “A year ago, I didn’t realize how much this would change me.”

The public pointed out the woman looked fit already. The implication that the partner seems to think the woman needs more exercise was also criticized. The comments on YouTube were turned off for the video. However, that didn’t stop the backlash and the company lost staggering $1.5bn in value. You can watch the advert below.
