Matthew Stephens is a British former professional road racing cyclist whose career spanned from 1998 to 2011. Said career took its baby steps when he became the first rider to win the Junior Tour of Wales twice, in 1987 and 1988, one of only two riders to do so. He represented Great Britain at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and became the British National Road Race Champion in 1998, the same year he turned professional with the British-based Harrods team.
After a broken knee in the 2011 Paris-Troyes put an end to his cycling career, Matthew took up writing for various sites, including offering a specialist’s point of view on ITV4’s Halfords Tour Series and Tour of Britain, and commentating on live races for British Cycling’s Premier Calendar, Global Cycling Network, RCS, and Eurosport. Furthermore, he now acts as an ambassador and digital content creator for Zwift and the Sigma Sports team, for which he also used to race between 2001 and 2011.

Unsurprisingly, his favourite subject to cover is road cycling. His ever-entertaining and observant videos often happen right from a bike’s saddle, and thanks to his renown and popularity on the cycling scene, he is often able to do impromptu interviews with various pros and insiders of the sport.
