Bernal is back
The Ineos Grenadiers rider posted photos of himself on Instagram riding a bike just over two months after the horrific training crash. Bernal previously stated that the accident left him with a “95 per cent chance” of becoming paralysed.
“The happiest day of my life,” wrote Bernal on Instagram. “After 2 months and 20 broken bones, here I am, and I want more!”
The serious crash required him to undergo seven surgeries to treat the broken bones and two collapsed lungs. It happened on January 24 when Bernal rode into a bus at close to 65kph while on his time-trial bike.
The Colombian previously posted photos of himself walking unaided, on a stationary bike trainer, and then later on an upright one.
It looks like he’s on the right path to full recovery. We wish you all the best, Egan!
Ready for the Tour?

Sounds familiar
Did a ride today I’ve wanted to do in a while, andorrà to girona. 2500m elevation gain, 4400m elevation loss. It was nice
Won’t be riding back.

Truth
Cycling two abreast can deter dangerous overtaking. The new #HighwayCode reminds that it is often safer for people to ride side-by-side, particularly when in larger groups or with less experienced cyclists and children.
