As horrifying as the covid-19 pandemic has been, it positively affected the traffic composition in many countries, the UK being one of them. In June 2020, the UK government launched the Gear change: a bold vision for cycling and walking plan. Sustrans, a UK-based charity, introduced the National Cycle Network, which links over 10,000 miles of traffic-free or traffic-calmed routes and quiet country lanes.
