The last stage was calm as it should be until the riders reached the last round on Champs-Élysées. Many teams tried to break the expected bunch finish but were unable to do so. Everyone expected Cavendish to win, but Wout van Aert once more showed his unbelievable capabilities and won his third stage this year.
Winning the battle for the Škoda Green Jersey was definitely a pleasant consolation prize for Mark Cavendish. It was an unlikely comeback to the Tour for him. He only appeared on the start line due to Sam Bennett’s health issues. However, the Manxman’s performance left everyone in awe. More than deserved victory. The Škoda Green Jersey is in good hands.
