European Road Championships 2020 Postponed and Other Important News from the World of Cycling

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it. So, what did you miss?

European Road Championships postponed

The European Road Championships 2020 will move to a new location. This year’s edition was supposed to take place in Trento, Italy. However, the Trento event has been pushed back to September 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. That means that the 2021 ‘Super-European Championships’ in Minsk will likely not happen as planned. The capital of Belarus was to play host to riders competing in a wide variety of disciplines. The postponement of the 2020 Trento Championships hints that the Minsk edition will not include road races.

“Given how the coronavirus is affecting the economics, we can look forward to the next year’s event as a great opportunity to gather people and share our common thrive for upturn once the emergency will be finally over,” Trento tourism board spokesperson Elda Verones said.

Meanwhile, the search for a new location continues. The rescheduled event should take place either between September 1-5 or September 8-12. If the European Road Championships isn’t held this year, the current 2019 winners will continue to wear the champions’ jerseys into 2021.
