In July 1894, Václav Klementsent his bicycle for repairs. Itcame back unrepaired and witha rude letter. He decided tostart building bicycles himself.
In September of that year, hemet Václav Laurin – a skilledmechanic. They soon went intothe bicycle business together.
On January 1st, 1896, theLaurin & Klement brand wasestablished.
They quickly moved from repairingother bicycles to producingtheir own model.They named it Slavia.
