4 Foods You Should Always Have Within Your Arm’s Reach

We all have one common bad habit. We want to constantly munch on something. It’s not gluttony or bad upbringing, it’s our nature. This constant need to look for food and eat as much as we can was what helped us survive in the ancient past. Nowadays, it’s what makes us fat. I propose a solution. If you surround yourself with foods that are naturally filling and satiating, you might just eliminate that constant need for snacking.

Dark chocolate

There is a big difference between dark and milk chocolate. Regular milk chocolates contain a huge amount of sugar which makes them devoid of nutrients and, more importantly, very addictive. With dark chocolates with at least 70% cocoa mass, you’re getting mostly healthy fats from the cocoa bean, a lot of fibre, vitamins, and minerals, and most importantly, there’s not much room for sugar left. It might take some time for your taste buds to adjust but it’s worth it. You will be surprised how satiating and satisfying dark chocolate can be. It’s the perfect cure for a sweet tooth.

Canned fish

Canned fish, like tuna or sardines, are healthy sources of fat and protein, which makes them super satiating. Plus, they contain those healthy omega-3s and plenty of fat-soluble vitamins and calcium. The most important thing is they have a long shelf life so you can stock up at work or in your pantry, so you always have them within your arm’s reach when you get peckish. There’s no need for a timeconsuming prep either, just eat them with some veggies or on top of a slice of bread and your body will thank you.

Nuts and seeds

Nuts and seeds are super healthy; they contain protein, healthy fats, and a wide range of vitamins and minerals. You can’t go wrong with them as a snack they are satiating and tasty too. They also won’t spoil so easily, you can store them for months. And if you’re looking to make your sandwich a lot more filling, try nut butters, they are a game changer. Just make sure you vary the kinds of nuts you eat, each has something else to offer.

Healthy protein bars

Just the name protein bar doesn’t make something healthy. Most cheap, widely available protein bars are in reality just candy full of sugar with a bit of protein inside and that’s not what you want at all. What I call healthy protein bars is something like SENS bars, RXBARS, or Epic bars. But there are other brands too, you just need to keep a couple of rules in mind. They need to be made with just a few simple ingredients you recognize, they need to contain very little or no added sugar, they need to have a lot of quality protein.
