By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here, and so is our news from the world of cycling. So, what did you miss?

The Manxman crashed

Mark Cavendish and Lasse Norman Hansen crashed early in the final event of Six Days of Ghent. Cavendish was removed from the side of the track on a stretcher as a precautionary measure. He stood under his own power and waved to the crowd. According to Jaser de Buyst who almost went down as well he noticed a damp area on the track just one lap before the accident.

The organisers resumed racing after a 40-minute delay. Cavendish‘s teammate Iljo Keisse continued alone. Hansen was able to continue as well but said he didn‘t feel great: “My body is quite stiff. I did get the doctor’s approval to continue but I’m already feeling better.”

Keisse and Cavendish were in fourth overall at the time of the crash. Iljo Keisse held that position till the end.

The Deceuninck-QuickStep team issued a statement on social media saying the team would share updates about Cavendish when the information is available.
