Franziska Koch didn\u2019t arrive in Roubaix as the obvious favourite. She left it as the winner of the Paris-Roubaix Femmes, a race that came down to timing, positioning, and one final effort on the track.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of hard to believe. I\u2019ve been dreaming about it, but Roubaix is a race where anything can happen, and that it worked out in the end, it\u2019s like a dream,\u201d Koch said after the finish.<\/p>\n

The decisive selection formed after Mons-en-P\u00e9v\u00e8le, with Koch joining Marianne Vos and Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot<\/a> at the front. From there, the race narrowed to a three-up sprint and Koch found just enough in the final metres.<\/p>\n

Managing the race before the sprint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Roubaix rarely allows for a simple approach, and Koch\u2019s ride reflected that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did a really good race with the team. We knew that positioning is key in the beginning. It\u2019s like a war going into the cobble sections, and we were fully committed to invest already early in the race. I managed to stay out of trouble, always be in the top-ten on the cobble sections. We wanted to make the race hard, and after Mons-en-P\u00e9v\u00e8le, I ended up in the perfect move,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

That early investment paid off. While others punctured or lost position across the 33km of cobbles, Koch stayed consistently near the front, avoiding the disruptions that defined much of the race.<\/p>\n
