Once upon a time, a bike rack was just a metal bar you hoped your frame wouldn\u2019t get scratched on. Those days are gone. Today, bike racks have quietly evolved into urban eye candy \u2013 canvases for creativity, open invitations for artists, and design statements that say more about a city than any billboard ever could. What used to be purely practical now adds a touch of culture, turning streets into galleries and proving that functionality can flirt with beauty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the biggest names to hop on this trend? None other than David Byrne<\/a> \u2013 yes, the Talking Heads frontman, visual artist, and all-around creative polymath. Teaming up with New York City\u2019s Department of Transportation, Byrne reimagined eight street corners across Brooklyn and Manhattan with racks inspired by their neighbourhoods: Ladies\u2019 Mile got a high heel, Wall Street a dollar sign, The Village a dog \u2014 and, naturally, there was a guitar. Because if you\u2019re David Byrne, why wouldn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n
