<\/p>\n

You step outside.
\nAnd immediately regret every decision you\u2019ve ever made.<\/p>\n

Because October wind isn\u2019t just wind<\/em>. It\u2019s a full-body attack. It doesn\u2019t push \u2014 it slices. You are now no longer riding a bike. You are participating in a meteorological hazing ritual. Here\u2019s how to (try to) dress for a month where the air has opinions and none of them are nice.<\/p>\n

Trust no forecast<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The weather app says 13\u00b0C. That sounds reasonable. Until you realise that:
\nIt\u2019s 13\u00b0C in the sun.
\nIt\u2019s 6\u00b0C in the shade.
\nIt\u2019s 1\u00b0C when you\u2019re descending at 58 km\/h into a headwind that feels like betrayal.<\/p>\n

You learn to ignore numbers and base your decisions on vibes. And suffering memory. October is a master of disguise. And you\u2019re the fool who believed it.<\/p>\n

Start cold, regret nothing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Conventional wisdom says \u201cyou should start a little cold.\u201d
\nOctober wisdom says \u201cyou will never be warm again.\u201d<\/p>\n

You layer up. You layer down. You unzip. You zip. You take off gloves and immediately scream.<\/p>\n

Every ride starts with shivers and ends with you sweating inside a windproof shell that now smells like cooked despair. But the alternative of being underdressed leads to a personal vendetta with the weather gods.<\/p>\n

So you dress big. Then you strip halfway up a climb like you’re doing interpretive dance with your base layer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Windproof \u2260 warmproof<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You own a windproof jacket. That\u2019s adorable.<\/p>\n

The neck warmer becomes religion<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not just an accessory. It\u2019s a belief system.<\/p>\n

You wear it around your neck. Over your ears. Up to your eyeballs. Inside your helmet. You\u2019d wrap your entire head in it if you could.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the only thing standing between you and an emotional spiral caused by a stiff crosswind and mild drizzle.<\/p>\n

Embrace the crunchy apocalypse look<\/strong><\/h2>\n

By mid-October, everyone looks like a post-apocalyptic bike courier.<\/p>\n

Nothing matches. Your colours are \u201cwhatever\u2019s dry.\u201d Your fit is \u201cfunctional panic.\u201d You\u2019re wearing shoe covers with holes, a jersey from 2016, and a buff that might actually be a dish towel.<\/p>\n

But no one judges you. Because they\u2019re doing the same.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t about style. It\u2019s about survival.<\/p>\n

Eventually, you return home<\/strong><\/p>\n

You open the door like someone crawling back from a minor war.
\nYour household looks at you with a mix of pity and confusion.
