Lidl-Trek\u2019s Jonathan Milan won the \u0160kod Green Jersey with a late stage win and a harvesting of intermediate sprint (IS) points to deny Tadej Poga\u010dar (UAE Team Emirates\u2013XRG), who was not actively competing in that competition. His margin of victory over the yellow jersey winner was 372 points to 294, with Biniam Girmay (Intermarch\u00e9-Wanty) in third with 232.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Milan won two stages, matching Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step), who finished seventh in the points classification, with 156 points. Milan became the de facto favorite for the win after his primary rival, Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), crashed on stage 3 while racing for an IS and broke his collarbone. The 2023 \u0160koda Green Jersey winner won the opening stage, in which Milan was part of a group that was dropped from the peloton due to crosswinds and never caught up, and the Belgian looked very strong. But Philipsen was in the wrong place at the wrong time when Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) and Edward Theuns (Lidl-Trek) collided and Coquard ricocheted into him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super happy with how the Tour panned out for us,\u201d Milan said after stage 21. \u201cI will definitely love to come back in the next few years. We\u2019ll see what the course is like every year in order to decide when.\u201d<\/p>\n

One problem for him and other sprinters was the decision of organisers to add three climbs of the C\u00f4te de la Butte Montmartre to the final stage, which turned it into something of a Classics race, rather than a stage perfectly suited for the sprinters, as had been the tradition.<\/p>\n
