Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx Protime) claimed a dramatic victory at the 2025 edition of San Remo Women, outpacing the legendary Marianne Vos (Visma | Lease a Bike) in a breathless sprint on the Via Roma. The race\u2019s return to the calendar brought the fireworks it promised, with Wiebes delivering a clinical finish after a perfectly executed team effort.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 156km race unfolded on a classic San Remo script\u2014tension mounting through the coastal climbs, culminating in the dramatic Poggio descent and a nail-biting dash to the line. With 250 metres to go, all eyes were on Elisa Longo Borghini<\/a> (UAE Team ADQ), who had launched a daring solo attack off the Poggio, carving out what looked like a race-winning lead. But Wiebes’ teammate, world champion Lotte Kopecky, had other plans.<\/p>\n

After being distanced on the final climb, Kopecky stormed back, rejoining the lead group and driving the chase in a selfless show of strength and strategy. Her work proved decisive, catching Longo Borghini just before the finish.<\/p>\n

Vos was first to launch her sprint, hugging the left-hand barrier, but Wiebes, poised and patient, accelerated on the opposite side, powering past her compatriot to take one of the most prestigious wins of her career. \u201cI\u2019m super grateful for what Lotte did in the final,\u201d said Wiebes post-race. \u201cI knew how strong she is, and she put me in the perfect position.\u201d<\/p>\n
