Jonas Vingegaard, the two-time Tour de France champion, has set his sights firmly on reclaiming the yellow jersey in 2025 after finishing second in 2024. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to line up for the Tour again. It\u2019s the race that means the most to me, and my goal is to win it for the third time,\u201d the Danish rider stated. His 2024 season was marked by both triumph and adversity, with victories in races such as O Gran Cami\u00f1o, Tirreno-Adriatico, and the Tour of Poland, but also a serious crash at Itzulia Basque Country that disrupted his Tour de France preparation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tour de France 2025: The ultimate goal<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 112th edition of the Tour de France,<\/a> starting on July 5th in Lille, will span over 3,000 kilometres and culminate in the Alps. Vingegaard is already looking forward to the challenge. \u201cI will do everything to be at the start in my best possible shape,\u201d he emphasized. Supported by a formidable Team Visma | Lease a Bike<\/a> lineup, including former Vuelta winner Sepp Kuss, Matteo Jorgenson, Simon Yates, and Wout van Aert, the team is aiming high. \u201cIt\u2019s great to see how the team has strengthened again. We\u2019ll prepare optimally over the coming months and do everything we can to win the Tour,\u201d Vingegaard said.<\/p>\n

Grischa Niermann, Head of Racing, affirmed the team’s priorities. \u201cOur biggest goal is to win the Tour de France again. Besides that, we also hope to fulfil our dream by winning the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, but it makes sense that the Tour de France will be our main goal. We have strengthened ourselves on several fronts, so we confidently look forward to the season,\u201d he said. Reflecting on past seasons, Niermann acknowledged the challenges ahead: \u201cIt won\u2019t be easy, but it will be an exciting challenge. It\u2019s up to us to work out a plan to achieve that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vingegaard\u2019s ambitions for 2025 extend beyond the Tour de France. He is also set to compete in the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a<\/a> at the end of August. The Spanish grand tour, featuring ten uphill finishes, promises to test the Danish rider\u2019s climbing prowess. In the successful 2023 season for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Vingegaard finished second in the Vuelta. \u201cWe\u2019ll define our specific goals later in the season. Last year proved that you can\u2019t plan everything, but I never start a race without ambition,\u201d Vingegaard remarked.<\/p>\n

Spring classics and team dynamics<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While Vingegaard focuses on grand tours, teammate Wout van Aert is targeting the spring classics, particularly the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. After missing these monuments in 2024 due to a crash, Van Aert is eager for redemption. \u201cLast year\u2019s disappointment has only fuelled my motivation for the monuments. I want to shine in the spring classics together with my team,\u201d Van Aert shared.<\/p>\n

Simon Yates and Matteo Jorgenson will also play crucial roles in the team\u2019s campaign, not only in the Tour de France but also in other key races, including the Giro d\u2019Italia, where they will be joined by Van Aert and sprinter Olav Kooij.<\/p>\n

The season of high expectations<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After recovering from his 2024 setbacks, Vingegaard will begin his 2025 season in Portugal next month, marking his first race since his victory at the Tour of Poland last August.
