The magic of the Tour de France, among other things, lies in bringing together people from all walks of life. Since \u0160koda has been a major partner of the Tour since 2004 and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift since 2022, you don\u2019t have to go far to find a cycling enthusiast and Tour aficionado within the company. Martin Jahn, \u0160koda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, shared with us a little slice of his cycling life, what does he admire the most about the riders taking part in the Tour or his thoughts on bike commuting. Can you still remember your first day on the bike?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I remember bits and pieces. I was four or five and rode the bike with stabilisers \u2013 it felt like a new sense of bravery and independence. What I remember much better, indeed, are the moments when my children started to ride a bike. Those are unforgettable moments of pride.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When did you first hear about the Tour de France?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I heard about it in my childhood, and it became even more fascinating in the 90s with legends like Indur\u00e1in, Ullrich, and Pantani.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What do you like most about the Tour de France?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I’m always amazed at what the top riders are capable of \u2013 riding in rain, hot weather, up hills, and still being ready for the next day\u2019s 200 km. Even if they have an accident, they mostly continue despite their injuries. They are like Iron Man. Then there are the beautiful scenes from France, combined with our \u0160koda Green Jersey<\/a> and the elegant \u0160koda cars \u2013 like the red director’s car. This year, you’ll see either the Enyaq or the new Superb. I also appreciate how the Tour de Franc has evolved over time, and in recent years, the inclusion of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift was a bold and commendable move.<\/span><\/p>\n

How often do you go cycling?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Less than I\u2019d like, to be honest. I have a great passion for cycling but my work commitments don\u2019t allow me to ride as much as I want to. That said, I relish every opportunity I get to ride.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What do you enjoy most about cycling?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I enjoy the opportunity to spend some time alone, clear my head, and enjoy the nature and fresh air around me.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What is your favourite cycling destination?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Anywhere in the countryside or in the forest, mainly in the south of Czechia and Austria.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nice or Paris?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nice is a charming coastal city but in connection with the Tour de France<\/a> it has to be Paris \u2013 it has always been the symbol of the Tour finals.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What are your thoughts on cycling as a mode of transportation in cities?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Especially in historic city centres, the future should include either cycling or electric cars\/electric public transportation. Good examples in Europe are cities like London, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam where many people already commute to the city centre by bike.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Road or mountain bike?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I proudly own a mountain bike from our \u0160koda cycling collection. So, even when I manage to sneak in some cycling time in my busy work schedule, I feel a strong connection to our brand.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
