The 109th edition is set to start on 1st July 2022 and the excitement is already palpable for all the sweat, tears, suspense, scenic rides, and breath-taking finishes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>No matter who your favourite rider is, or even if there isn\u2019t one, you always know you are setting yourself up for an amazing spectacle with the Mother of All Bicycle Races. While your attention probably stays mostly on the contestants, let\u2019s take a minute to appreciate the thousands of individuals behind organising, servicing, and staffing this gargantuan event. From the race\u2019s director in the striking Velvet Red <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skoda-auto.com\/models\/range\/enyaq-iv\">\u0160koda ENYAQ iV<\/a> to his race marshals, the neutral-service \u0160koda vehicles, route planners, team crews, and much more \u2013 there is an amazing, dedicated crowd that\u2019s passionate to make some magic happen. And if you throw in the colourful ocean of on-site onlookers, you get an atmosphere like no other.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_184094\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-184094\" style=\"width: 1250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2021\/06\/Didi-Senft-El-Diablo-profimedia-0556273005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-184094\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2021\/06\/Didi-Senft-El-Diablo-profimedia-0556273005.jpg\" alt=\"Didi Senft\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-184094\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Tour is a fascinating spectacle. \u00a9 Profimedia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you are watching, either from the side-lines or on TV, you have a good chance of witnessing a piece of cycling history. You could see the birth of a legend such as Chris Froome, who won his first GC in 2012 and went on to win four more; or Peter Sagan, whom most now associate with the \u0160koda Green Jersey; the 2020 edition\u2019s nail-biting concluding time trial from which Tadej Poga\u010dar emerged victorious; or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2020\/09\/21\/eddy-merckx-versus-the-world-at-the-1971-tour-de-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eddy Merckx<\/a> battling the unforgiving slopes of Mont Ventoux.<\/p>\n<p>Or \u2013 it could be the first Tour de France Femmes after more than three decades. In the words of pro cyclist, author, filmmaker, activist and motivational speaker Kathryn Bertine: \u201cA Women\u2019s Tour de France is so much bigger than a bike race. It\u2019s a beacon of progress for the society that men and women are valued equally at the top.\u201d It is a milestone event for women\u2019s cycling and equality in the sport in general, alongside prize money and sponsorships increasing globally.
