So, what did you miss?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Vos claims eighth cyclocross rainbow jersey<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Another unbelievable achievement in a long line of unbelievable achievements for Marianne Vos. The 34-year-old won her eighth world title after a close battle with her compatriot Lucinda Brand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is really unbelievable,&#8221; Vos said after her victory. \u201cYou don&#8217;t often think back on your career towards a World Championships. I really can&#8217;t believe it.\u201c<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-controller-wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">From \ud83e\udd42 to \u2708\ufe0f!<\/p>\n<p>An interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/marianne_vos?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@marianne_vos<\/a> just before she started the long journey home\u2712\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f\u201cThe jersey and the medal were on my bedside table as a nice, tangible memory of the title.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women (@visma_lab_women) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/visma_lab_women\/status\/1487844973571620868?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 30, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async data-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The Dutchwoman realised she wouldn\u2018t be able to drop Lucinda Brand and so she bided her time and eventually bested her in the final sprint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really very difficult. Lucinda is hard to beat and I knew it. She put pressure during the race and I tried. However, it was difficult to drive away. So I had to stay calm and do the right things in the final lap and focus on the sprint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vos\u2018 cyclocross world titles now span 16 years, beginning in 2006. Then came the winning streak from 2009 till 2014. The Brit went on the offensive in the fourth lap, broke away from the rest of the field and didn\u2018t look back. He kept a comfortable 30-second gap until the very end.
