Tom Pidcock launched a move only van Aert and Schachman could follow in the closing part of the race. Leaving the rest of the favourites behind, the trio soon gained an advantage of 20 seconds with 10 km left. They started to slow down in the last kilometre, trying to shift each other to the front. The chase group was coming up quickly and van Aert eventually launched his sprint. Pidcock came alongside and the photo finish could not have been closer. In the end, Wout van Aert was declared the winner.<\/p>\n

    Marianne Vos wins the sprint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    It looked like the two leaders had it all in the bag, but Elisa Longo Borghini refused to work with the defending champion Kasia Newiadoma. They were caught in the closing 300m and swallowed by the chasers. Vos was perfectly positioned and launched her sprint with 150m to go. No one was able to match her power and she crossed the finish line first.<\/p>\n
