However, the UCI has insisted that no formal changes to the calendar will be confirmed until March. The reality is not easy going and Prudhomme admitted the race organizers will have to adapt to the current restrictions.\u201cFor example, for Paris-Nice, we\u2019ll have to make sure that the riders have access to labs that are capable of carrying out rapid tests so that they can travel home,\u201d Prudhomme told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtbf.be\/sport\/cyclisme\/detail_christian-prudhomme-quand-on-pourra-a-nouveau-se-serrer-la-main-la-proximite-des-champions-cyclistes-reviendra?id=10693032\">RTBF.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_179287\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179287\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/09\/profimedia-0555880677.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-179287 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/09\/profimedia-0555880677-1024x698.jpg\" alt=\"2020 Tour de France \" width=\"1024\" height=\"698\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-179287\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Until March, there will be no official cancellations or changes to the calendar. \u00a9 Profimedia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, all things considered, the director of the Tour and president of the AIOCC \u2013 the International Association of Cycling Race Organisers \u2013 is optimistic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn all the meetings that we have with local authorities, we always highlight the specific nature of professional sport, which allows competition to go ahead, obviously with adapted measures. The biggest cycling race in the world returns to its summer date in 2021 after last year\u2019s postponement to autumn. It is scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 18. It is yet to be decided whether spectators will be allowed to watch from the roadsides.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope we&#8217;ll have people on the roadside even if I don&#8217;t know today. I hope that we will have a normal life again and that the beginning of summer will be like a kind of liberation.
