However, he wants to change that. As he said in a pre-season press conference it\u2019s the World Championships Pedersen will be targeting the most in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n&#8220;If I had to choose one race to win this year, I would like to win back the Worlds. It was a pity that I won\u2019t be able to show my kids the photos from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2019\/04\/24\/andrea-tafi-paris-roubaix-is-a-love-hate-challenge\/\">the Roubaix<\/a> track with the jersey on &#8211; that was the hardest part of not racing all the races last year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old has other plans as well. Pedersen won the Gent-Wevelgem last year and plans to confirm he\u2019s a Classics specialist. For me, it\u2019s not a pity if Jasper is in the finale. In Gent-Wevelgem, let\u2019s say, if he jumped with the guys who were doing the sprint, I would be more than happy for Jasper to win the race. It makes us stronger to have two cards to play. This is a pair of kings &#8211; not a bad hand to have in a poker game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The stakes are high in this game and even more so when Wout Van Aert and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2021\/01\/04\/mathieu-van-der-poel-wins-in-hulst-and-other-cool-news-from-the-world-of-cycling\/\">Mathieu van der Poel<\/a> are playing. However, Pedersen knows he can win even against the very best.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_181186\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-181186\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2021\/01\/Wout-van-Aert-profimedia-0564373637-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-181186 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2021\/01\/Wout-van-Aert-profimedia-0564373637-1-1024x665.jpg\" alt=\"Wout van Aert and Mathies van der Poel\" width=\"1024\" height=\"665\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-181186\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wout Van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel are tough rivals to beat, but Pedersen is hopeful. \u00a9 Profimedia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;They are not unbeatable. I showed already that they\u2019re beatable. I can\u2019t beat them every time, just like they can\u2019t win every time. But I know I can beat them, and that\u2019s enough for me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those are the plans for 2021, but there are other ideas the Dane has in his head. The 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letour.fr\/en\/\">Tour de France<\/a> starts in Copenhagen and stage 2 route goes around Pedersen\u2019s house \u2013 so that would be a truly special moment to wear the yellow jersey. And when talking about the Tour jerseys, we mustn\u2019t forget <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2020\/09\/08\/the-story-of-the-skoda-green-jersey-and-the-legend-of-peter-sagan\/\">the \u0160koda Green Jersey.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I now see the possibility of doing it. One day, if the Tour is perfect for it and fits me well, why not?
