Bikes cost a lot of money and even with 0% finance deals offered by many retailers, you can make do with what you\u2019ve got. Here\u2019s how.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Your bike looks fine<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Your 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bianchi.com\/\">Bianchi<\/a> looks fine. So what if you opted for the \u201cedgy black\u201d version by mistake? Don\u2019t beat yourself up for missing out on Celeste. And just ignore the surface wear on the carbon frame. The 2021 Bianchi will only go out of date in 4 years too. Cycling isn\u2019t about fashion! Sure, you save a lot of money building it yourself and, let\u2019s face it, it takes up a lot of free time. You don\u2019t need to waste precious time building a new bike.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Make do and mend \u2013 then treat yourself to an upgrade<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2018\/01\/24\/5-things-cyclists-told-bike-maintenance-wrong\/\">Bike maintenance<\/a> is one of life\u2019s greatest pleasures. Every time I ride my 2013 Trek off the driveway I\u2019m smug in the knowledge that I don\u2019t need to buy a new bike because I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2016\/02\/10\/get-the-most-low-maintenance-bike-possible\/\">degrease and regrease<\/a> everything that needs degreasing and regreasing as often as is reasonable. But then, I remind myself of the money I saved by not buying a new bike. And smile smugly to myself.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bikes are versatile<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A friend of mine weaned himself off his mtb and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welovecycling.com\/wide\/2019\/05\/10\/is-a-gravel-bike-the-answer-to-your-cycling-prayers\/\">bought gravel bike<\/a>. Now he\u2019s tried cleats, he\u2019s after a full tarmac roadie. His wife has forbidden him from doing anything that stupid again. He\u2019s found a loophole because technically it\u2019ll be safer trying the descent on a new mtb. I say listen to your wife.
