What makes Caf\u00e9 du Cycliste a special place?<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Located at the quay of the old port of Nice, it&#8217;s easy to access by bike if you cycle alongside the beautiful sea-view promenade. Caf\u00e9 du Cycliste is not only a place where you can find the best iced coffee in town but also a bike shop selling own clothing brand. You can borrow cycling magazines or books of the shelves of the caf\u00e9 and sit down at one of the tables scattered around the shop. The walls are filled with racks holding cycling jerseys, bibs and accessories. While sitting on a bench outside of the store, we enjoyed listening to the story of the brand.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_179781\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179781\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/cafe-du-cycliste-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-179781 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/cafe-du-cycliste-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Cafe du Cycliste Nice\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-179781\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A coffee? Or new cycling shoes? \u00a9 Jakub Frey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The company was founded by R\u00e9mi Clermont and Andr\u00e9 Stewart some eleven years ago on the C\u00f4te d\u00b4Azur, in a typical caf\u00e9 nestled in the heart of the hinterland mountains. The passion for cycling made the founders call the pub Caf\u00e9 du Cycliste. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cafeducycliste.com\/en_roe\/la-gazette\/nice-store\/\">The coffeehouse<\/a> moved to Nice in 2015 after acquiring a spacious place in the heart of the old port.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_179787\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179787\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/SKODA-SUPERB-iV-8-cafe-du-cycliste.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-179787 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/SKODA-SUPERB-iV-8-cafe-du-cycliste-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\u0160koda Superb\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-179787\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caf\u00e9 du Cycliste exterior. \u00a9 Jakub Frey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A former boathouse and art gallery now serves as a resting spot, caf\u00e9 and clubhouse. According to the coffeehouse manager, there was a demand to create a gathering place for cyclists and this is why the founders decided to give them such a meeting point where they can start or end their rides and enjoy a cup of coffee, which is actually roasted nearby in the old Nice.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_179782\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179782\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/cafe-cycliste-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-179782 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2020\/10\/cafe-cycliste-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Cafe du Cycliste Interior\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-179782\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A former boathouse turned into a resting spot. \u00a9 Jakub Frey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cyclists visiting the town are encouraged to join regular weekend rides that are held from the shop. The riders can choose from Saturday trips of up to 50 km or longer Sunday loops that are arranged in distances between 70 and 80 km. On top of that, the pub hosts various official events such as the presentation of the Explore Corsica. When major races are being broadcasted on TV, such as the Tour de France, Strade Bianche or Milan San Remo, people come to meet at the caf\u00e9 to follow the event together on the screen. \u201cCycling is not just about pressing the pedals, there is a hint of French cycling philosophy around it,\u201d the manager says. Cyclist or not, anyone is welcome to have a coffee, take advantage of their services or rent a bike.
