The UCI has released a detailed racing calendar for the rest of the year. Dozens of races were cancelled or postponed because of the coronavirus crisis. The governing body will now try to squeeze as many races as possible into the period between August 1 and October 31.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have drawn up a solid, attractive and varied new calendar that is as realistic and coherent as possible,\u201d said UCI president David Lappartient. \u201cThis has been achieved as early as was practicable and in line with information available today concerning the evolution of the pandemic. Riders, teams and organisers now have the dates they need to anticipate the resumption of racing on August 1. This is a very important step that the entire cycling community, financially impacted by the pandemic, has been waiting for to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Al three Grand Tours should take place. The Tour will start on August 29 and finish in Paris on September 20. The Giro will be held from October 3 till October 25. The Vuelta should be shorter than originally planned. 18 stages instead of 21. It will also overlap with the Giro, which will start on October 20 and end on November 8.<\/p>\n

La Course should take place on August 29, and the Giro Rosa will run from September 11 till September 19. The biggest news in the women\u2019s calendar, however, is the addition of Paris-Roubaix. It should happen on October 25, the same day as the men\u2019s race. It will be the first women\u2019s edition of the race in history.<\/p>\n
