While Dan Martin (UAE Team Emirates) got back on his bike and continued, Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale) was forced to abandon. He should race the Tour of the Basque Country. A disgraceful video showing one of the spectators filming himself laughing at an injured rider appeared after stage one.
