Although, whether it\u2019s more terrifying for the child or the parent is up for debate. Either way, once kids learn to ride, it\u2019s something that can become a shared lifelong passion for parent and child.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Soccer mums can be seen wrapped up in woolly scarves on the sidelines of winter matches, nursing a thermos of hot tea and with a ready supply of restorative orange slices. Goodness knows what you\u2019ll be like when they start driving! Fortunately, there are some pretty key safety precautions to be taken. Most parents will take safety in any circumstance seriously, but a cycling mum will definitely have the responsibility thing down to a fine art:<\/p>\n<p>1) \u2018Wear a helmet\u2019 is her mantra, always making sure it fits and it\u2019s bought for its intended wearer \u2013 no hand-me-downs.<br \/>\n2) She believes you\u2019re never too young to learn some basic rules of the road.<br \/>\n3) She always makes sure her kids wear something bright if they\u2019re cycling on or near a road so they\u2019re visible to drivers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_172973\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-172973\" style=\"width: 1250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2019\/03\/profimedia-0414277593.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-172973\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2019\/03\/profimedia-0414277593.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1250\" height=\"834\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-172973\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">On the bike path.\u00a0\u00a9 Profimedia, Stock Budget<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>A chance to go on an adventure<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Once those basics are covered, the world\u2019s really the oyster of the cycling mum and her offspring.<\/p>\n<p>While quiet streets might be a good place to learn to ride a bike, once kids have got the hang of it there are some fantastic options around the world for cycling routes that are family-friendly and often completely car-free.<\/p>\n<p>So cycling\u2019s a really wonderful opportunity for families to experience new places together, and it\u2019s an opportunity for cycling mums to show off their more adventurous side!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cycling mums getting involved<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While other sports generally see mums watching from the sidelines as kids take part, cycling is something where mums can get involved and take part with their children. More often than not it isn\u2019t about competing. Although that can be fun too. It\u2019s about having a nice time, travelling, health, fitness and spending time with people you like.
