To make it work, you need to know how to get the nutrients you will be missing by not eating meat. It\u2019s not hard but you have to know the basics. The good news is it only takes 60 seconds!<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<lite-youtube videoid=_SNK2nl_1Oo params=\"enablejsapi=1\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi_webp\/_SNK2nl_1Oo\/maxresdefault.webp');\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<p>If you\u2019ve been following this series you should have no problems switching to a vegetarian diet in a healthy way. You know you should go for wholesome foods, make sure you have variety and focus on a few key nutrients that are harder to get without meat. I have just two more recommendations that can come in handy going forward as a vegetarian.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Drink plenty of water<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Even though it\u2019s true for all diets, I want to stress it again for vegetarians. Especially after switching from a standard western diet it\u2019s very likely you will increase your fibre intake. More fibre needs more water to bind to in your intestines, otherwise you can find yourself constipated and with a lot of intestinal discomfort. It\u2019s true that soy is one of the best plant sources of protein but it\u2019s only one option out of many and it has its downsides just like all foods if you overeat them. And keep in mind that populations that traditionally eat a lot of soy eat fermented varieties like Tempeh, Miso or Natto, which are much easier to digest and more bioavailable.
