But as a footage later showed, it was actually a roadside fan\u2019s camera strap that caught his handle bars and sent the Italian to the ground. Amazingly, the 33-year-old was able to get up and finish the stage. He flew back home to Italy for recuperation, and Bahrain Merida issued a statement yesterday that he had undergone a successful surgery. He\u2019ll stay at the clinic for a few days and then return to training. Initially, it should be just a static bike, but the team believes he\u2019ll be back on the road very soon.<\/p>\n<p>Does it mean he\u2019ll be ready for the World Championships road race in September?
