it&#8217;s serious business.\u00a0 The whole retail cycle of components, products, and new bikes is born from every pro team&#8217;s hunt for jerseys and wins.\u00a0 And the excitement inspires millions to ride the bikes they love \u2013 but who will love a bike when its owner decides it&#8217;s time to say &#8220;goodbye&#8221;?<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Heavy pedal punks<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Cyclecide described themselves as The Heavy Pedal Bike Rodeo, and they&#8217;ve terrorised the streets of San Francisco with their Frankenstein creations since 1996.\u00a0 They started out by dumpster diving for discarded bikes.\u00a0 Their mission \u2013 to give each discarded bike a new identity.<\/p>\n<lite-youtube videoid=XOx3eXic1Gg params=\"enablejsapi=1\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi_webp\/XOx3eXic1Gg\/maxresdefault.webp');\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<p>The circular saw and welding torch are Cyclecide&#8217;s tools of choice, but the biggest tool is really their imagination.\u00a0 Cyclecide are known for splicing frames together to build <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/explore\/tags\/tallbike\/\">tall bikes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XOx3eXic1Gg\">swing bikes<\/a>, and bike-themed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XfK8WCZlmeo\">fairground attractions<\/a> for all the family to url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi_webp\/XfK8WCZlmeo\/maxresdefault.webp');\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<h2><strong>Recycling<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Everything starts with Cyclecide&#8217;s Paul De Plumber, whose official job title was San Francisco dump&#8217;s Artist in Residence.\u00a0 In a bid to reduce landfill, The City employs artists to repurpose anything they found that could be of use to the creative community \u2013 including finding new purpose for unwanted bikes.<\/p>\n<lite-youtube videoid=mCwx3VvEGL4 params=\"enablejsapi=1\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi_webp\/mCwx3VvEGL4\/maxresdefault.webp');\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<p>Turning trash into treasure requires imagination, and Cyclecide have repurposed bicycles into lawnmowers, and pedal-powered fire-fighting machines.\u00a0 Founder, Jarico Reese, pointed out that Cyclecide&#8217;s mission is more about putting a smile on your face than creating practical
