It\u2019s so easy to store body fat in such environment and getting rid of it takes a long time. If you want to avoid or at least mitigate the damage, you better have a plan. Let\u2019s look at a few simple things that will help.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Start eating early<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When Holidays arrive, it\u2019s more important than ever to start with a good breakfast. Give your body plenty of protein, fibre, and nutrients so it truly feels satiated. That will greatly minimize the chance of you eating everything in sight later in the day. A couple of eggs, steamed spinach and broccoli, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes, and a slice of sourdough bread topped with avocado pieces is a great example.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Put healthy combinations together<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Having a variety of treats at arm\u2019s length is the best environment for overeating. You can at least partially combat it by learning to combine foods the right way. Imagine each plate being divided into thirds. One third should be non-starchy veggies like broccoli, salads, mushrooms, cauliflower, or zucchini because they are low in calories and will help fill you up. One third should be dedicated to a protein source like turkey, beef, pork, or chicken, this will also help with satiation. The last third can be made up of side dishes like potatoes, peas, corn on the cob, rice, and other treats. This way of filling your plates will make them nutritious and filing but still very tasty.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/05\/45845848_4488487487.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Drink water<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hunger signals can often be mistaken for dehydration. Keep drinking water throughout the day, maybe even more than you normally would. This should also help keep you full and limit chances of overeating.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Freeze leftovers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019re not out of the woods even after the Holidays. There are usually so many leftovers that you could happily keep stuffing yourself for a couple more days. That\u2019s why it\u2019s best to freeze any excess so you don\u2019t feel pressured to eat everything to avoid wasting food.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/12\/profimedia-0357217072.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-162740\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/12\/profimedia-0357217072.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Don\u2019t beat yourself up if all doesn\u2019t go according to plan<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The only thing that\u2019s worse than overeating is overeating and stressing about it. Even if you follow all of the above mentioned advice, it is likely things won\u2019t go according to plan. And that\u2019s ok. If you\u2019re on top of your eating and exercise whole year round then you\u2019re succeeding in the long term. A few days won\u2019t undo that.
