Miguel Angel Lopez won the stage after attacking with 1.2km to go on the summit to Calar Alto, but it was Chris Froome who was the happiest man in the peloton. He managed to finish second, ahead of Vincenzo Nibali, while claiming the six-second bonus. The Italian rider moved up to second place ahead of Chaves who lost over two minutes on the last climb. Nicholas Roche (BMC) was dropped with over 11km to go and fell to eleventh place overall.<\/strong>

It is now up to Nibali to chase Froome, and it seems that he\u2019s up for the challenge. \u201cWe are becoming better and better. As you can tell, Chris Froome has a strong team and he is strong, so it\u2019s very difficult to gain time against him. But at least someone needs to try,\u201d Nibali\u2019s sports director Gorazd Stangelj said.<\/p>\n
