On Monday it looked like Marcel Kittel had it all in a bag with 79 points on Michael Matthews. But quite on the contrary, it\u2019s the Australian in the lead now and once again it seems like nothing can stop him.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Sunweb team worked the whole day on Tuesday, pulling the peloton forward to keep Marcel Kittel behind. Crosswinds made it a wonderful finale with Chris Froome and other GC contenders in it for the victory. It was Matthews who was victorious though, beating Edvald Boasson Hagen, and claiming 50 points in the process. Suddenly, there were only 29 points between Kittel and the Australian promising us a fine competition in the days to come.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_160568\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-160568\" style=\"width: 1250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/07\/profimedia-0342457855.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-160568\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/07\/profimedia-0342457855.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-160568\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marcel Kittel is injured after a fall during the seventeenth stage of the 104th edition of the Tour de France, Wednesday 19 July 2017.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Unfortunately, Marcel Kittel had to abandon the race altogether the very next day. The German pro, who won five stages this year, crashed before the first climb of the Col d\u2019Ornon, damaging his right shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can say I\u2019m very disappointed. I don\u2019t know how to describe my feelings at the moment. The peloton headed for the Alps the next day with Warren Barguil winning at Col d\u2018Izoard. Nothing changed in the points classification and unless some accident befalls Matthews, he\u2019s going to take it all the way to the Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Current Points classification standings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>1.
