The bicycle architecture biennale celebrates a new wave of architecture corresponding with the revival of bicycle transport. Bikes used to be lower than horses in architects\u2019 eyes. Facilities for them always seemed built on the cheap, as though they would only be torn down when all the cyclists could afford cars. This exhibition celebrates buildings that roll out a red carpet for bikes. They show bicycle planning doesn\u2019t stop at the curb side, the desires of cyclists are going to start shaping the design of new buildings,\u201d Steven Fleming, the curator, said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_151974\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-151974\" style=\"width: 784px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/06\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-151974\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/06\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"784\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-151974\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SkyCycle \/ Foster + Partners<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event is organized by a cycling innovation agency CycleSpace and is supposed to celebrate the cutting edge and high-profile building designs that are facilitating bicycle travel, storage, and safety all around the world. It\u2019s part of the annual Velo-City event, which is the biggest cycling-focused conference in the world.
