L\u2019\u00c9tape du Tour is an annual event that lets thousands of amateur cyclists from around the world experience a Tour De France stage. The race replicates stage 18 of this year\u2019s Tour and features the same luxuries that pro riders enjoy – closed roads, support cars, feeding stations, and the infamous broom wagon that picks up those who can\u2019t make it. Experience Tour de France in the saddle<\/strong><\/h2>\n

L\u2019\u00c9tape du Tour was first held in 1993, the original idea was to allow amateur cyclists to experience the breathtaking beauty and muscle-burning rigor of the Tour de France mountain stages. And with over 15,000 riders participating last year, the concept has not changed in the two decades since the first race. It usually starts quite early, with participants distributed according to their ability levels: the fastest at the front and the slowest at the back. The peloton quickly stretches out, creating a constant flow of cyclists on the course. The last riders usually take over 10 hours to cross the finish line, though historically there have always been many who didn\u2019t finish at all.<\/p>\n

Where and when?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This years\u2019 L\u2019\u00c9tape will be held on the 16th of July. The 18th stage of the 104th edition of the Tour de France will run through the heart of the most majestic and enigmatic sporting setting ever! From Barcelonnette to the Col de Vars (2109 m), minds and thighs alike will be fired up and the final 10km ascent to Izoard (2360 m), which is over 9 % of average gradient, promises an unforgettable experience as well. The overall 178km route with two big climbs will be a tough challenge for anyone.<\/p>\n<\/lite-youtube>\n

Who is the race for?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The race is open to all who dare and manage to get in. And the demand is high. L\u2019\u00c9tape du Tour established itself as a significant benchmark for ambitious amateur cyclists from around the world, plus it represents the opportunity to attempt a stage of the Tour de France, a dream-come-true for so many. Since joining the Tour de France as a major sponsor 13 years ago, \u0160koda has provided funding opportunities for those looking to participate in this unique event. In the last two years, \u0160koda and We Love Cycling sent 10 amateur cyclists to compete.<\/p>\n
