So, what did you miss?<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fernando in the lead<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Quick-Step Floors pro was the fastest in the third stage of the Giro d\u2018Italia full of heavy crosswinds. It was the debut Grand Tour victory for the Colombian and earned him the pink jersey for the overall race leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s an enormous joy because of the work of the team. We wanted a win before the rest day, so we can enjoy the rest day tomorrow. All the teams knew there would be crosswinds. We were spot on at the front. My team mates&#8217; legs were very strong. They opened the gas. It&#8217;s a beautiful victory. I was feeling sorry for my team mates because my legs weren&#8217;t responding in the first two stage finishes. Now we have the win the team deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_147947\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147947\" style=\"width: 1250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/05\/profimedia-0331570677.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-147947 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/d2p6e6u75xmxt8.cloudfront.net\/2\/2017\/05\/profimedia-0331570677.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-147947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arrival for winner Fernando GAVIRIA (COL), during the 100th Giro d&#8217;Italia, Stage 3, Tortoli &#8211; Cagliari (148km).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That means that the short reign of Andr\u00e9 Greipel is over, but he did atleast fullfil one of his dreams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a childhood dream to wear a jersey like this. We tried last year but it didn\u2019t work out, so this year was another chance. We tired yesterday but it didn\u2019t work and it paid off today. Anything can happen. I\u2019m not going to thrown in the towel and say \u2018stuff it\u2019 but I have to be realistic and say GC is done.
